Sketch #2

Before I head to work I've created challenge number 2. This focuses more on the image as being the main part of the card.

Have a go and see what you come up with!

P.S. Just thought of an added extra while the sketch was uoloading.. momocromatic. I have some paper I should use up. Don't worry if you dont have any.. your card can be any colours!

Becky's Challenge

Becky set a challenge over at her blog to use only freebies from magazines. I decided to join in because I've only even bought two magazines (shock horror!) so I thought it would be a good challenge. I must say my card is rather plain, as I could have made a Christmas card but don't really feel like making christmas cards in January... maybe February LOL. :) I'll probably add a sentiment now teh challenge is complete. It could maake a nice card with a wee sentiment added.
I'm off to have some dinner before I head to work.

Blogging Is Addictive (Plus New Card)

This blogging lark is so addictive. I keep looking through everyones and don't get much done. I've opted to take up Becky's challenge of using only items from magazines. It will be especially interesting since I have only ever bought two magazines and one was a christmas one haha.

Have made another card tonight with more coredinations card stock. I love how you can sand it! Used some remains of basic grey paper. I'd love to buy some more but I find it on the expensive side! Enjoying a cup of tea then headng off to bed.
Night everyone

p.s as usual comments are welcome :)

I've Been Tagged!!

Look, I've been tagged!

Basically you have to go tino your pictures and choose the 6th folder, then the 6th picture and explain a bit about it.

My picture is a photo of a stained glass window, as you can see. The window belongs to a Wetherspoons pub called the West Kirk which has been converted from an old disused church. They have kept a lot of features inside and this is one of them. I like the windows, I think they look quite pretty.

So.. now it's my turn to tag six people. Lets see..

  1. Susie - http://susiescards.blogspot.com/
  2. Kirsty - http://fairycakecards.blogspot.com/
  3. Tracey - http://moondaisys.blogspot.com/
  4. Hudson - http://craftyhudson.blogspot.com/
  5. Clarky J- http://thisandthatwithclarkyj.blogspot.com/
  6. Puddycatlover- http://acrabbitcrafters.blogspot.com

Enjoy!

I went to see my friend today for the last time before she returns to Australia. It was quite sad really. I saw her last week for the first time in 4 1/2 years so it was really strange even though we'd spoken via msn etc. So today was the last time I would see her before she flies all the way home. We had a nice coffee and scone and a last wee chat, but somehow it's just now the same!

Off to have dinner now!

Productive Evening

I feel I've had quite a productive evening as I made another two cards. I used my new cardstock and papers which I bought today (i did say I was going to treat myself) The cardstock is this new coredinations... you can sand it which is pretty cool and if you rip it you don't get a white bit you get whatever colour the paper is.. eg blue! I'm making it sound complicated however if anyone bought the DC Creativity magazine there was a free sample on the back!

Anyway, I enjoyed making these cards as I feel my cards are always pretty boring.. so it was nice to buy some new stuff and have a go at sanding paper! The paper is from the Laura Ashley Contemporary collection and there's some pretty papers in there!
Hope you all like the cards! Any comments welcome :)

Becky's Sketch

Here's a card Becky made using my sketch. I really like this card and think the image is really cute.

My Sketch

Here's my card made from the sketch in the previous post. I altered it slightly changing where the thin line of paper was positioned. I treated myself to some new stash today and this card is made with Aquamarine Floral Prints by Kate Knight. I thought the designs were really pretty and the paper is quite thick as well.

  • The image of the cat was already coloured using WHS watercolour pencils. It wasn't coloured by myself, it was actually a friend who did it a couple of weeks ago. The colours went well with the paper i'd picked for the card so I'm quite glad he used those colours for the stamped image!

  • The flowers were cut from an x cut paper punch.
Hope everyone likes it. Comments would be appreciated! Anyone who wants to join the challenge feel free. You can email me a picture of your card and i'll upload them here!

Sketch Challenge No 1

As I sometimes find it difficult where to place things on cards I thought I'd try making my own sketch and sticking to that. I made a quick one up on paint on the computer a few minutes ago so will give that a try today and see what happens.

Here is my sketch so if anyone is interested they can take part too! Would be lovely to see some other peoples designs too.
I think I may take a trip into town later and buy some cardstock!

Wow..

Wow, there's so many people out their that have blogs. I went to work today and told everyone about my blog and made them look at it too. Just got home not long ago and came home to find lots of posts on my blog and my first ever hot topic message on the DC forum lol. Surprisingly it was about blogs...

I'm going to work my way through everyones blogs eventually and I thank everyone who left comments, became follwers and took the time to have a look at my blog. As a blogging newbie, I'm two days old, I wasn't really sure what to write or add to my blog but it seems that my first card went down well!

I'm heading off to check the DC forum before bed! I have a driving lesson tomorrow at 9am. I don't know why I keep booking them so early.. Guess I can go back to sleep after though.. Oh how lazy am I ???

Night (technically good morning) everyone!

Saturday, 24 January 2009

Well here's a shot at a blog everyone. After posting on the DC site some lovely people gave me advice with regards to setting up a blog. I've been peeking at some wonderful blogs over the past few weeks and I've been inspired by the lovely cards you all make.

I took a trip to my local Tesco this afternoon. They were selling a lot of embellishments for 49p so I snapped up 15 packets!! Some kind DC members sent me some gorgeous stamped images so I'm going to have a go at making beautiful cards too!
